What’s Powering the 2022 Mazda CX-5?
Powering the “non-turbo” CX-5 S, Select, Preferred, Carbon Edition, Premium, and Premium Plus trims is a 2.5-liter Skyactiv 4-cylinder gasoline engine with cylinder deactivation. This engine makes 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. At the same time, the turbo models, aka the CX-5 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Signature are equipped with a tweaked variant of the turbocharged 2.5-liter Skyactiv® G 2.5 Turbo engine, which now delivers 256 horsepower compared to the 250 horsepower on the previous powertrain that powered the 2021 Mazda CX-5 turbo. The torque figures remain unchanged at 320 pound-feet.
2022 Mazda CX-5 Pricing
Now to the main question. Has the 2022 Mazda CX-5 gotten pricier? Well, yes, but very marginally so.
The base CX-5 2.5 S trim has a starting MSRP of $25,900, a $530 increase from the predecessor, while the prices for the higher models have increased by up to $1,350. Nonetheless, you get the benefit of having AWD on all trims and the new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select technology or Mi-Drive that intelligently chooses the best drive modes depending on the various terrains you’ll be driving on. Both are great features to have, especially when you’re driving off-road or in the winter when the roads are slippery and covered with snow. Plus, the Turbo trims now produce more power, so the slight premium is justified.
Let’s look at the complete 2022 Mazda CX-5 price list. All prices exclude the $1,250 destination charge.
